One of the easiest and best ways to help keep the heat in during the winter is to
not have it leaving! Weather stripping and checking the caulking
around the windows is probably the simplest and least expensive way to cut down
on energy waste and costs in the winter. Homes that are not sealed well can waste
10% to 15% of your heating dollars.

Try these steps to keep your home warmed efficiently:
1. Check all your doors and windows to make sure your weather stripping
is still in good condition. Replace where necessary.
2. If your windows are leaking, try to budget getting them replaced.
It can be expensive, and may take awhile to recoup your energy savings, but think
how nice they will look!
3. Seal all the wires and pipes that penetrate the walls or ceiling.
That is a huge source of heat loss.
4. Even electrical outlets can let heat out. You can buy simple
pre-cut foam gaskets that fit behind the plate.
5. Always close the damper on the fireplace when not in use.
6. Check your heating ducts. Since we seldom see these, they can tear
and flatten and you won't know about it. Duct tape that is used to seal
duct work can get old and peel off. By fixing these leaks, you can save
about 10% of your heating bill, according to the California Energy
Commission.

Why are Fat Loss Idiots called idiots, then, if they are so wise? If they know how to use this weight calculator and they know how to get to their target weight without fail, there must be some catch to all this. Surely they must count every calorie they eat. Surely they must have to cut out virtually all of the fat from their diet. They must have to become vegans or something like that. Or worse...they must be those crazy running fanatics who have no lives because all they do is run and get shin-splints!

The reality is that Fat Loss Idiots are so called because if they tell other people--especially nutritionists, doctors and people who belong to a gym and attend religiously--what their method for losing weight and losing it quickly is, they get laughed at. They get ridiculed. They get ignored. They get called and thought of as "idiots". And whoever heard of this dumb idea of a BMI weight calculator? What about carbo-unloading? What about lowering your caloric intake and skipping meals to lose weight? What about pushing your body to the point of injury or failure? Haven't these idiots, with their "take it easy, enjoy great food, eat more often, and lose weight without even exercising" nonsense, got a clue? Are they even from this planet?

Why don't Fat Loss Idiots go in for all of the common ideas about how to lose weight? Well, these "idiots" know that the conventional wisdom here, as it typically is, is really just...wrong.

People trying to lose weight tend to want to be "skinny". Skinny (as opposed to slender) is unhealthy. They don't pay attention to the weight calculator. They don't know what weight they are supposed to be for their body type. So they lose mental and physical energy trying to be one of those ugly "supermodels". But Fat Loss Idiots look and feel great--not "skinny" and weak and un-energized.

Fat Loss Idiots don't have to count calories. They understand that if you reduce your caloric intake, your brain simply turns down your metabolism--so that just does not work. They also understand that food is not your enemy--it is your fuel and is meant to be one of the great pleasures of your life.

1. Do you weigh yourself several times a day? Just because you sweat up a storm just now, don't go dashing to the scale expecting to see a change right away. Experts say you should only weigh yourself once a week at most. Otherwise the fluctuations you see are likely to be from water weight alone.

2. Do you buy every weight-loss pill and potion out there? We all know that diet and weight loss products are a multi-billion dollar industry. The companies that produce these products are mainly interested in helping you lose weight in one area: your bank account. In many cases, weight loss products can cause serious health problems if used incorrectly. In any case, once you stop using the product, the weight you lost will come right back.

Likewise, fat loss idiots are prone to following every fad diet out there. "Lose 10 lbs a week by eating bananas!" While that may be possible, can you imagine the monotony of eating nothing but bananas? We were created to eat a variety of healthy foods so that our bodies will be at their optimum health.

3. Do you buy a smaller size just because you can? Sure, you may be able to get the zipper up on those size 8 jeans, but look in the mirror. Do you look like a stuffed sausage? Remember, no one can see the tag. Instead, buy a pair in the size that looks good on you now. You will look thinner.
