It isn't caused by having too much fat (this is evident by the amount of skinny people who have cellulite too), it isn't a build up of trapped toxins and it isn't inflammation of the fat cells. It just simply is their visibility.

What caused the visibility is too things

1. Consuming too much protein! If you are eating a lot of cooked protein (rather than plant protein which will not cause this issue) then you are contributing to your cellulite issue. The heat from cooking the protein damages the amino acids and creates new substances within it. This creates amino acids that are much harder for our bodies to separate and utilized. As a result they aren't utilized immediately and end up in the skin, making you retain water and making your fat cells visible.

2. An impaired hormone metabolism. One of the reasons you have impaired hormone metabolism can be contraceptive pills. The only way the pill can work is by dominating your hormone metabolism and if it didn't you would get pregnant. It is known that contraceptives can cause water retention thus cellulite.

Now in this article I would like to focus on the protein issue and what exactly happens to make the subcutaneous cells visible.

Cellulite despite it being very normal to have these days, is NOT natural. Cellulite is categorized by the bulging of fat cells into the outer skin and this is caused by an increase in concentration of damaged proteins that have very high water-attracting properties. This leads to a rise in the amount of water the skin retains, which causes the fat cells to extrude.

So if you retain a lot of water, then it is most likely you are consuming too much protein and too much damaged protein. A likely sign of this would be cellulite!

What about my genetics?
No, cellulite isn't hereditary at all, even though many sources seem to claim that it is. I think this is down to making people feel better by putting the blame on something that is out of ones control. Well I am sorry, but cellulite IS in your control.

The difference was that the first time Don lost weight but the second he lost fat. We need to know the difference. When a person loses weight you lose active tissue, like muscle and connective tissue with excess fat is lost to a lesser degree. Exercise on the other hand does the opposite as it increases lean body mass and decreased his excess fat.

When starting an exercise program you should get your body measured for how much body fat you have. This should be done prior to your first workout and shouldn't take long.

When working out you should be doing exercises geared to all the muscle groups in your body. This will when combined with propr eating habits give you more energy as well as strengthen your immune system and metabolism.

It's hard to say what causes cellulite, but it could be the structure of the fat cells in the body. It could also come from hormonal changes in our bodies, but none but none of this has been proven to cause cellulite.

Cellulite is more prominent in women than in men because of the fact the connective tissues are more rigid and firm in women. Fatty cells get bigger and swell in women creating that lumpy look to the skin. Being overweight can cause cellulite though it is not true in all cases. Cellulite forms when there is too much fat under the skin creating a strain under the skin. The best way to do that is to start an exercise program. Yes I said exercise.

Losing fat for most of us is tough, and really we have only three options. Eat less and stay active, do more activity and keep food intake constant, or do both, exercise and eat healthy.

Exercise is the reverse of inactivity. You can burn 500 calories in one hour of exercise, and by cutting 400 calories a day you can lose one or two pounds a week.

Exercise is not for everyone especially the obese. With no exercise you would have to eat 500 to 1,00 fewer calories a day to lose the same pounds a week. This type of exercise and food restrictions should not be done without the supervision and consultation of your doctor to prevent any strain on the cardiovascular system.

You must be careful here, you want to lose connective tissues, not fat. If prone to cellulite and you lose connective tissue instead of fat you are not winning the battle and the fat cells are still there. So, in reality the problem is not solved at all.

To lose those cellulite you must first lose the fats. Burn the fats by increasing your metabolism by 8.0% to 28% of your normal rate.

This is why exercising is so important in the fight against cellulite. The bottom line is that you need to start and keep an exercise program that will help your total fitness level. Combine this with healthy eating habits and your battle with cellulite and many other ailments including a positive attitude will surely take a turn for the better.

Some of the main ingredients in cellulite treatment creams and lotions actually work to remove excess water from your body, thereby improving the appearance of your cellulite and giving the appearance of firmer and smoother skin.

1. Cellulite is not caused by a build up of toxins or metabolic waste products under the skin. However, that explanation/myth does make a lot of sense to the average woman and therefore the average woman buys into this unproven notion, and the possible cures that might fix it - which simply cannot.

2. Cellulite is not a special type of fat. Body-fat is body-fat, no matter where it is on the body and no matter if it's in a man or a woman. But, it is a great marketing angle to claim cellulite is a strange type of fat only found in some women and can only be treated with expensive solutions. This is completely false and misleading.

3. Cellulite is not genetic. Just because a woman's mother has the appearance of cellulite doesn't mean the daughter will have it and even if the daughter does have the appearance of cellulite, doesn't mean she cannot get rid of it. Bumpy and puckered lower body skin can become tightly toned and smoothed with the right exercise program. This is not to be mistaken with a typical gym program of weight lifting and machine pumping.

4. Cellulite is not a superficial skin issue. It is a deeper layer, muscle structure issue. Since it is not a skin issue, it cannot be cured or fixed by any superficial methods. This means it cannot be removed by creams, lotions, massage, supplements, or laser treatment of any sort.

Over the past 10 years or so of my career, I have noticed that most women are concerned with a lot of the same issues. Cellulite is one of the most repeated concerns women have voiced. The word "cellulite" was first recorded in a French medical journal about 150 years ago. Cellulite was then believed to be a disease. Although the medical community has since abandoned that idea, most women I know would refute that conclusion.

One of the biggest misconceptions about cellulite is that it occurs due to weight gain. The truth is, even very thin women can and do have cellulite. All my thin clients with cellulite will attest to that. In fact, cellulite is actually a skin problem. Did any of you know that? I'm not sure that even some so-called experts know that. I'll say it again: cellulite develops on a woman's body because of her skin, NOT fat!

Cellulite is obviously not a simple one dimensional problem. There are various contributing factors, however, the main issues are found in the skin: its structure, elasticity and thickness. In women, the connective tissue lies up and down, parallel to itself, with fat cells lying below it. It actually has large spaces in between, which makes it very easy for the fat cells below to push up toward the surface of the skin. Ironically, fat cells do not push toward the surface of the skin if you gain weight. In fact, it is only able to push up toward the surface when the thickness and elasticity of the skin are diminished. Then the fatty deposits are trapped within the connective tissue, causing the dimpled, puckered look we all despise. The cause of the loss of thickness and elasticity is collagen and elastin breaking down. Want to know why guys don't have cellulite as much as women? Men's connective tissue actually fits very close together in a criss-cross pattern, with no gaps, thus preventing the fat from pushing up towards the surface of the skin.

Elastin and collagen diminish with age in everyone. But external factors play a part as well. The environment, one's diet, sun exposure and lifestyle also play a big part. How can we prevent the skin from losing elasticity and thickness? The body must be assisted in producing collagen and elastin. Nutritionally, one can eat a diet rich in foods we know aid the body in its production of these essential proteins. Eggs are rich in amino acids, which help produce collagen. Cucumber and spinach strengthen the skin with silica and lecithin respectively. Pineapple is anti-inflammatory- it helps fight water retention and aids in the healing of damaged collagen fibers. Also its very high in vitamin C. Eat pears to detox from pollutants and to stimulate the lymphatic system. Oranges are excellent sources of vitamin C and contain bioflavonoids, which help circulation and strengthen capillaries. Broccoli contains alpha lipoic acid, which helps prevent the destruction of collagen from sugar. You get the idea.

Externally, one can do a few things at home for the skin on the body. Exfoliation is essential- the slight abrasion will trigger the skin's healing mechanism which helps the synthesis of collagen and elastin. I would recommend using an organic scrub in the shower twice a week all over the body. After every shower in the morning, it is essential that one use an organic hydrating cream. This provides the skin with the vital nutrients it needs to replenish the damage that occurs from our environment. It will also serve as a protective barrier between your skin and the pollution we walk around in daily.

In handling cellulite or any other skin problem the best thing I can recommend is prevention from the start. Obviously we are all going to age, but there are so many wonderful things available to us to slow down the signs, why not take advantage of them?
